Chattanooga, TN:  May 25-27, 2024
Merle and I visit to check out the place (poss next stop?)
After arriving early afternoon, we checked in, and then drove around the city, downtown and some recommended neighborhoods, Catholic churches, Filipino store...you know, the usual.
We drove up to an area called Lookout Mountain, where there was an attraction called Rock City, where reportedly there was ability to see seven states from up there.

Downtown Chattanooga is shown by the arrow, and we'll have to take their word about the seeing 7 states deal.

Next day, we drove around to look at more neighborhoods, and did some walking around downtown before our lunch meeting.
Here we're on the Walnut St. Bridge over the TN River looking at the downtown area.
Merle wanted to play in the fountain with the other children, but I had to tell her no since we didn't bring a towel.

:(
Since we were a little early for our lunch meeting, I asked then what Merle wanted to do.
The answer:  take a nap.
For lunch, we got to meet up with my previous assistant Kelcie, and also her mom Tina.  Lovely visit.
If the ears were burning of the people at Ortho Associates, that's why.      :)
That evening, we did a super touristy thing:  go to visit Ruby Falls, which is a waterfall 145 feet high in an underground cave, 1120 feet below the surface of Lookout Mountain.  Here at the entrance.
There is an observation tower at the top of the building also with some views of the TN river.
There is a long elevator ride down, and we see lots of strange formations of water through limestone, like this one that looks like the name they applied to it.
Finally, we get to the falls, and it's literally and figuratively very cool down there.  They have different light effects, but probably if someone pulled the plug, it'd be super dark there.
Then back home on 5/27.  Thanks, Chattanooga!!    :)
